Mediterranean Iconic Shores Ocean Cruise

Day 1: Thursday, October 30, 2025 - Travel from home, to international airspace

The day's statistics:
- Weather: mid to upper 60s, sunny
- Steps: 8,669 Linda; 12,802 Steve
- Miles traveled (approximately): 1,178

This really isn't the first day of our cruise, but rather it is the first day of travel on our vacation. This has been the norm for all our Viking Cruises - including this time.

The first leg of our travel was to get from PHL (Philadelphia) to Heathrow, in England.
In Philly, we parked the car in the ExpressPark South lot about 5:00, and were shuttled to the terminal in about ten minutes.
We made our way to the ticketing kiosk, acquired our luggage tags, and checked them in. Linda's weighed 34 pounds, and mine was 38 pounds (my shoes are bigger).
We breezed through the TSA PreCheck security, and by 6:00, we were on the way to the gate.
We had to get something to eat so we stopped by the terminal Subway® and got our typical footlong, eating it at the tables in the foodcourt area.
After eating, we were heading to gate A6 by 6:40. As there was Yards Brewing shop in this wing, we felt like we had been here before...
So far, our flight is on time.

We played games on our phones and chatted a bit until boarding started at 7:50.
Our group was called at 8:10 and within about ten minutes, we were at our seats.
Not until 8:45 did the plane actually start moving, then we say for about 20 minutes.
We took to the air at 9:15.
Sometime shortly thereafter, we were high over... probably Philly.

Dinner was served at 10:35, but we declined having had Subway® four hours prior.

Even without adjusting our time keeping devices - our mobiles were on airplane mode afterall - it was soon past midnight Eastern Time, and thus a new day was upon us.
